Temporary Home

I don't want my life at the Camp to be a giant mystery for my friends and family and I do not want them to worry about things that are not true or just simply not worth worrying about. So I am putting all of this information online for whoever wishes to read it. If there are changes to any of it, I have a friend who can easily make them and keep this page up to date. I am hoping to be in the camp as soon as possible (instead of the FCI), so I am including information from that perspective wherever appropriate.

This page is intended for family and very close friends so it includes information on how they can help me or how others can help them.

I have a friend who will be finishing this page for me over the next couple of weeks and then keeping it updated. You should refresh your browser (F5 on Windows) when you return to it to get the latest changes.

Sheridan - Home Temporary Home :-)
The Satellite Camp at Sheridan....

The facility in the upper left portion of the picture is the Camp and the facility in the lower right portion of the picture is the FCI. Both are 239 miles from my biggest joys in life! The physical address is 27072 Ballston Road, Sheridan, Oregon 97378 and the phone number is (503) 843-4442 (if you have any questions about the facility, they will probably not answer any questions about me personally/specifically). For any additional information on the facility or Federal Prisons you can go to the Bureau of Prisons website at http://bop.gov/.

Sending Joe Letters - You can view the federal rules for corresponding with Joe here. It is important to know that all mail is opened and read by federal officials. Please do not discuss the specifics of Joe's case in letters that you send or any negative views about the government (etc.), but other than that the officials do not care too much about your personal lives, so feel free to discuss whatever you want.

Helping Joe's Family - My family is my most pressing concern while I am incarcerated and they will undoubtedly have more hardships than myself during this period. If there is any way that you can love them, help them, pray for them, drop a line or a quick note to them, etc. I would be eternally grateful.

You can write to my wife or any of my kids and send your letter to this address and it will get to them. Please make sure that you put your name and return address on any letters you send as I have instructed the person who is relaying mail to them to throw away any letters that do not have return information as well as to screen letters from anyone that they do not know.

If you want to help them financially, or any other way you can contact Jennifer Hamann by email at hamann.j@comcast.net and she will give you an idea of what their needs might be at this time.

If you just want to make a quick donation to them you can send money directly to Wendy through PayPal by clicking on the link below:

Sending Joe Books (OK to Send Now, Joe is not over his limit at this time)

You can send paperback books directly to Joe but you can not send hardback books, these must come from a recognized book publisher/distributor like Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com. There is also a local bookstore that the Camp recognizes, it is Powells books. The books are being sent to a P.O. Box so they need to be sent by US Mail (I think most companies will default to US mail when they see the P.O. Box).

Sending Joe Money - There is a commissary at the camp where Joe can purchase food, toiletries, bathroom and cosmetic items, non-prescription medicine and vitamins, undergarments and miscellaneous clothing items, shoes, writing materials, stamps, cards, batteries and such. It is said to be one of the happiest days around the camp when it is your day to shop at the commissary and you have funds in your commissary account. Joe will also need money to make phone calls (approx $75 per month) and to buy postage stamps.

Visiting Joe

I am not sure what the visiting rules are yet. This area will be updated when I know what they are.

Telephone Calls

www.myvconnect.com If you want to set up an account for Joe to call you collect. I believe the cost is $1.50 for the first minute and .23 per minute after that. Joe should also have a phone card that he can use from the Camp after a couple of weeks. The number of calls that Joe can make per month is pretty limited, so letters are going to be his primary method of keeping in touch. Hopefully Sheridan will get an email system that Joe can use soon.
