Boundaries
 

Boundaries,

like lines,

we form in our minds,

in an attempt to protect ourselves,

and each other.
 

We politely set them,

then hope to say,

that if we just stay within them,

we will be okay.

The plight of friends and lovers
 

In a daring attempt,

to break the mold,

one reaches out,

to finally take hold,

of all that this person desires.
 

The boundaries get blurred,

the lines disappear,

as emotions are stirred,

they overcome their fears,

and rush headlong into the fire.

Extended Thoughts

This was something I wrote when Wendy and I were beginning to date. It was a funny time for both of us as we moved from friends and roommates to “casual dating” and then to our lives together as husband and wife J
